ESCP’s MSc in International Business Law and Management students based at ESCP London Campus were invited to Reed Smith LLP’s London office in Broadgate Tower to gain insights into navigating the route from education into the legal profession, and to learn about different legal career paths and the law industry in general.
Gilles Pillet, the Academic Director of the MSc in International Law and Management programme arranged the visit and accompanied 34 students. At Reed Smith, Tamara Box, the Managing Partner (Europe and Middle East) gave an introduction to the company and its areas of expertise, and Becca Schrod, the Graduate Recruitment Manager, shone a light on the route to law.
After the introduction, students attended the panel discussion: ‘Career paths and exciting life journeys’, followed by a Q&A session with a Reed Smith team assembled from across their business. The panellists were Becca Schrod (Graduate Recruitment Manager), Lelaine Riche (Global Practice Group Manager, FIG) and Alicia Millar (Learning and Development Director, EMEA).
ESCP Business School’s MSc in International Business Law and Management full-time programme is taught over 15 months between London and Paris. Students stay in London between January and April (Term 3 London). The programme is taught in French and English, therefore knowledge of both languages is a prerequisite. ESCP Business School has partnered with the Centre for Commercial Law Studies of the Queen Mary University of London and the British Institute of International and Comparative Law.
Testimonial
"During our recent visit to Reed Smith's London office, we were struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the firm. The team there went out of their way to make us feel at home, and we left with a strong impression of the firm's culture and values.
One of the highlights of my visit was the presentation given by the Reed Smith team. They provided valuable insights into the firm's areas of expertise and the kind of work that trainees can expect to do. We were particularly impressed by their honesty and authenticity in sharing testimonials about their experiences of working in law.
In addition, the Reed Smith team took the time to give a presentation on the new Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), which was incredibly informative and useful. It demonstrated the firm's commitment to supporting their trainees and ensuring that they have the resources they need to succeed.
Overall, our visit to Reed Smith's London office left many of us feeling inspired and eager to pursue a training contract with the firm. Their welcoming atmosphere, interesting presentation, and commitment to excellence make them a top choice for anyone considering a career in law." - Mayda Azoury, student of the MSc in International Business Law and Management programme.
