Celebrating Excellence at ESCP Turin Campus

The ESCP Business School, renowned for its commitment to nurturing talent, has once again put academic excellence in the spotlight by awarding a substantial sum in scholarships to deserving students. For the eighth consecutive year, the Turin Campus has recognised exceptional young individuals through its BSc in Management – Scholarship Contest.

Under the expert guidance of Professors Regina Brix and Adelina Tordiglione, this year’s contest proved to be a rigorous test of business acumen and decision-making capabilities. Participants, hailing from top secondary schools across Italy, were immersed in a dynamic business simulation designed to challenge their strategic thinking and analytical skills.

Working in teams, the students tackled real-world business cases and presented their solutions before a panel of judges during engaging Q&A sessions. Professor Daniele Battaglia, Academic Director of the Bachelor in Management at the Turin Campus, had the honour of announcing the winners: Bianca D’Alessio (50% fee scholarship), Niccolò Merlini (30%) and Alberto Scali (20%).

Meet Bianca D’Alessio: 2025 Scholarship Contest Winner

Bianca D’Alessio, a student at Liceo Linguistico Civico Polo Manzoni in Milan, stood out for her analytical mindset, international background and collaborative spirit. With fluency in four languages and a semester abroad in Canada, Bianca has embraced a global outlook from a young age. Her varied academic and extracurricular experiences reflect her ambition to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment – making her a natural fit for ESCP’s Bachelor in Management.

Her drive, adaptability, and natural flair for teamwork left a strong impression on the jury during the BSc Scholarship Contest. We asked Bianca to reflect on her experience and share what this achievement means to her.

Congratulations on your win! Can you tell us what this scholarship means to you, both personally and academically?

Winning this scholarship has had a great impact on me, both personally and academically. It’s a huge opportunity for my future as a student, and it has reaffirmed that I am an adaptive person capable of working in an unfamiliar and challenging environment.

Which part of the contest did you find most challenging, and how did you approach it?

Although I had some prior - though limited - experience with business case studies, as an Italian high school student, I rarely had the opportunity to engage with challenges of this nature. The tight time frame added an extra layer of complexity. I addressed these issues by working closely with my teammates, leveraging collaboration and critical thinking.

Every competition teaches us something. What did you learn about yourself during the process?

I agree that facing new challenges allows us to learn more about ourselves! I went to this contest eager to win but not quite sure about what was going to be expected of us during the competition. I learnt that trying always comes with a reward, whether tangible or in the form of development.

In your view, what qualities or skills helped you stand out from the other candidates?

In my opinion, what helped me stand out from the other candidates during the individual part of the competition was a very analytical approach to the decision-making process; I paid attention to the data and based my criteria on very tangible parameters. I showed confidence during the team presentations and approached the work as if it were a real-life ESCP case study in an actual classroom. The willingness to demonstrate the work my teammates and I did as a group made me present myself as an eligible candidate.

Let’s talk about the future – how do you think studying at ESCP will help you shape your career goals?

While not so patiently waiting for the verdict about my admission to ESCP, I imagine my future there. I am confident that being part of such a prestigious and international environment will empower me to make informed decisions about my career. ESCP will allow me to explore different business areas, broaden my perspective, and refine my interests. I truly believe it will guide me towards a deeper understanding of my strengths and aspirations, helping me shape a clear professional path.

Lastly, how would you describe ESCP in three words now that you're about to start this new journey?

Three great adjectives to describe some of ESCP’s qualities are: international, transformative, and empowering. ESCP’s globally oriented approach to teaching and its diverse environment fosters a unique learning experience that prepares students for leadership in an interconnected world. The emphasis on innovation and collaboration and a strong entrepreneurial spirit make it stand out among other universities.

Bianca’s story is a testament to the values at the heart of ESCP: international vision, academic excellence, and the courage to embrace new challenges. We are proud to welcome her to our business school and look forward to seeing her grow into the leader she aspires to be.
