For several years now, ESCP Business School has worked towards a more sustainable approach on many of its fields of action: Teachings, Research, Processes, and Governance etc. The “Grand Baromètre de la Transition Écologique”, a detailed questionnaire submitted by the Student Manifesto for ecological awakening was an excellent opportunity to highlight all the work accomplished over the last couple of years..
This 40 questions document is an assessment tool of sustainability policies and actions for Business schools and universities. Thanks to the collaborative work of ESCP’s departments, spearheaded by the Sustainability transition team, the school was able to provide a thorough description of internal actions promoting sustainability.
ESCP Business School, aware of its key role in the training of future managers has been committed to sustainability.
The answers given by ESCP in this self-assessment questionnaire are another testimony of the aforementioned commitment. It is also not the first time that the school has been in close contact with this students’ manifesto for an ecological awakening, since one of its debate took place within its walls in the Paris République Campus. (See article “Le Manifeste étudiant pour un réveil écologique organise son Grand Débat” - French - 14.04.2019).
By reading this questionnaire, it is easy to see how ESCP’s commitment to sustainability has profoundly transformed its internal organization for the last decade: Change in the teachings, dedicated support to thematic research, sustainable processes implementation, strengthening of teams, organisation of conferences and career forums etc.
On teachings for instance, two new curriculum dedicated to sustainability, ethics and responsibility have been implemented. (MSc in Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Innovation; MSc in International Sustainability Management). There are also new fundamental courses in the key programs. Our objective is that all the students from the school’s generalist programs are trained on Climate/Sustainability issues, and have a comprehensive grasp on planet boundaries.
Furthermore, our research activities have been continuously including more sustainability : the number of publications on the matter have surged to 22% in 2018 and their impact is now measured by their societal influence.
We are also strengthening our collaboration with all of our stakeholders on the matter, including students’ societies, which have seen their participation in our decision-making process increasing.
For Aurélien Acquier, Associate Dean for Sustainability Transition, “Over the last two years, we have driven fundamental changes in several of our key programs, including the integration of seminars and core courses for the Bachelor, Mim or Executive MBA programs on sustainability. This questionnaire was an opportunity to review all of our initiatives, to reflect on our sustainable development strategy and to plan the next stages of our transformation..”

The London Campus professor’s latest offering is perfect for professionals and students who want to gain an applied perspective on today's most pressing issues in managerial economics.
Professor Anthony J. Evans, one of Europe's leading managerial economics instructors, brings the content that works in his classrooms to an even wider audience. Written in an engaging and informal way, whether you are a busy executive or simply an interested amateur, Economics : A Complete Guide for Business is your go-to guide.
“I believe that it is a great time to learn economics, and the ongoing turmoil in the global economy has increased demand for accessible yet fulfilling economics books. There is a lot of excellent material out there, and they all help to expand the market for textbooks. However there’s a gap,” he explains.
“This project is based on my frustrations at not having a textbook that I can recommend to my own students, and my desire to harmonise the existing electronic resources that I currently make available. I wanted to create a hub for students of economics – whether they’re enrolled on an MBA programme, a time-pressured executive, or simply an interested layman – to see the world differently.”
This book was first published as Markets for Managers, which has proved to be a popular way for non-economists to understand and apply the key tools of economics in a business setting. In this revised and updated edition, you will be led through the building blocks of economic theory and how they relate to the real world. You will see how thinking like an economist can improve your decision making, and how markets can be used to generate value within organisations and in society at large. The book incorporates the main principles of both micro and macroeconomics and takes a broad and diverse approach. In it, you will encounter the most interesting economists and understand their contributions in a historical context.
“The perfect way for busy people to understand how markets function, how they can be used to help managerial decision making, and how economic policy impacts corporate performance,” commented The Sunday Telegraph Editor Allister Heath. “Evans provides an excellent overview of the key debates in economic theory and leaves the reader enlightened, rather than frustrated. Highly recommended.”
