The Deutschlandstipendium
Supporting Academic Excellence and Social Engagement
The Deutschlandstipendium is a national scholarship programme funded jointly by the German Federal Government and private sponsors. It supports high-achieving and committed students by providing financial assistance and encouraging academic excellence, social responsibility, and personal achievement.
At ESCP Business School Berlin, 7 scholarships are awarded for the academic year 2026/2027 to students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and strong personal commitment in areas such as social engagement, leadership, community involvement, overcoming personal challenges, or special extracurricular achievements.
Scholarship holders receive:
- 300€ per month
- Funding for the period of 12 months, from 01 September 2026 to 31 August 2027 (two semesters)
The scholarship is granted irrespective of income and may be received in addition to BAföG, Erasmus+, and Kindergeld
After the funding period ends, a new application is required for further consideration
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to students who:
- Are enrolled at ESCP Berlin for the full funding period from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027
- Are generally within the standard period of study in one of the following programmes:
- Bachelor in Management (Berlin Track, Year 1 or Year 3)
- Master in Management (Year 1 or Year 2 students enrolled at the Berlin campus for the full funding period)
- MSc in International Sustainability Management
- MSc in Strategy and Digital Business
- Sales 4.0 | MSc in International Sales Management
Please note that students receiving other scholarships that are incompatible with the Deutschlandstipendium under German funding regulations may not be eligible.
Selection Criteria
Applications are assessed based on a holistic evaluation of the candidate's achievements, potential, and engagement. Selection criteria include:
- Outstanding academic achievement and academic potential, demonstrated through previous academic records and/or current performance at ESCP.
- Social commitment, civic engagement, volunteer work, leadership activities, and extracurricular involvement.
- Professional experience, internships, and other relevant practical achievements.
- Special personal achievements and individual accomplishments.
- Personal circumstances and educational background, where relevant.
The final selection is made by the ESCP Berlin's selection committee. Scholarships are awarded in accordance with the ESCP Berlin Deutschlandstipendium regulations and evaluation criteria:

Applications must be submitted in English by email to deutschlandstipendium@escp.eu. Please attach the following:
- Curriculum vitae (CV) without photo
- Motivation letter including the ESCP programme in which you are enrolled (max. two A4 pages)
- Certificate / Diploma:
- For applicants to the Bachelor programme in September (1st year): Proof of university entrance qualification; for foreign certificates, where applicable, with a German or English translation
- For applicants to a Master programme: Proof of a first university degree and, where applicable, proof of academic ranking or placement within the graduating cohort, as well as additional academic records in accordance with the admission requirements of the respective Master programme
- For ESCP students starting their second or third year of studies in September: Proof of academic achievements to date, including the current Grade Point Average (GPA)
- Information on any other scholarships or financial support received, expected, or currently applied for during the funding period
- Proof of social or civic engagement (voluntary activities, honorary positions, association activities, engagement in politics or religious communities, university committee work, or similar activities)
- Where applicable:
- Internship and employment references
- Proof of subject-related awards and prizes as well as other knowledge and qualifications
- Information on special social, family-related, or personal circumstances that may have made studies more difficult, particularly in relation to overcoming biographical challenges
Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. There is no legal entitlement to the award of a scholarship.
Timeline & Next steps
- 1 June 2026: Application period opens
- 30 June 2026: Application deadline
- July 2026: Applications are reviewed and evaluated by the Selection Committee
- By 1 August 2026: Applicants are informed of the outcome via their ESCP email account
- By 1 August 2026: Successful applicants receive scholarship award details and required acceptance documents by email
- 15 August 2026: Deadline to submit completed acceptance documents and proof of valid health insurance coverage
- Beginning of September 2026: Enrolment status is verified with programme management teams and any outstanding questions may be resolved
- 1 September 2026: Scholarship funding period begins
- 30 September 2026: First scholarship payment is made; subsequent payments are generally transferred at the end of each month
