Campuses

ESCP students have been invited to attend a free webinar by our corporate partners, Splunk.

In their own words:

"Splunk is the world’s first Data-to-Everything Platform. Now organizations no longer need to worry about where their data is coming from, and they are free to focus on the business outcomes that data can deliver. Innovators in IT, Security, IoT and business operations can now get a complete view of their business in real time, turn data into business outcomes, and embrace technologies that prepare them for a data-driven future.

"With more than 5,000 employees in 27 offices worldwide, we’re focused on creating lasting data outcomes for our customers."

This webinar is hosted by Rupert Truman, Splunk Sales Engineer.

Overview:
Every aspect of your lives are intrinsically linked to data, from the steps you walk into campus to the assignments you submit online and the food you buy in the supermarket. As tools such as cars, watches and kitchens become digitalised the amount of data we produce will only increase.

While machine data has huge value to businesses, there are significant challenges in computing it at real time and presenting it in an accessible manner.

This talk will focus around:

  • The value and future of machine/big data
  • How Artificial Intelligence extends the value of data
  • Background on how Splunk enables companies to make data-driven decisions

This webinar takes place on 23rd April at 3pm (BST).

Please note that attendance is offered to current students at ESCP London Campus only. If you would like to join, please check your emails for the exclusive registration link sent by the London Careers Service.

Making a Case for Remote Leadership

29 April 2020 - 5-6 p.m. (CEST)
Engaging Teams and Achieving Results With Others in a Virtual World

The way we work together, the roles of physical space and the relationships that develop in that space, have been intimately linked to the technology of the times. Most of our communication is implicit, governed by non spoken rules, whether we refer to accountability, respect, decision making, or the use of power. Our physical space and the resources and tools we use, play a critical role in shaping leadership and organizational culture. It is this implicit communication that allows most decisions in an organization to be hatched outside the meeting rooms. The exponential change we are seeing means in fact that the way we work has changed more in 15 years than it has in the previous century. Yet, leadership has not kept up at the same pace. In a digitized environment, the unspoken ties that physical presence gives meaning to, disappear.

How can we make sure in such a context that leaders do more than connect isolation, but create and inspire virtual communities with an implicit language aligned with the organizational values, such as inclusion, diversity, creativity, fairness?

Diana Clarke, affiliate professor of ESCP Business School
In this Masterclass, Diana Clarke, affiliate professor of ESCP Business School with 30 years of experience in Executive Development, will explore key leadership dimensions that will be both specific and unique to our unfolding and evolving organizational culture.

Join ESCP's Prof. Benjamin Voyer for a journey through the science of buying during a crisis or pandemic.

In the last few weeks, the world has witnessed irrational and extreme behaviours - from stockpiling toilet paper to failing to abide by life-saving lockdown measures. Those behaviours can appear puzzling, but are rooted in deeper inner psychological mechanisms. From a psychological point of view, those behaviours can be explained by three main dimensions.

1. Social: The current context shows how much of an individual’s behaviour is dependent on its social environment, cultural norms, or group behaviours. This is made apparent in the way different countries have tried to address the pandemic.

2. Cognitive: Irrational behaviours often have roots in cognitive biases; for instance, a short-term bias which makes users less likely to behave in a way that is supportive of long-term societal interests.

3. Evolutionary: Some of the behaviour- and information-processing strategies we have inherited from our hunter-gatherer ancestors make us more susceptible to spreading unhelpful rumours and other potentially unreliable information.

MBA Masterclass
Leading teams and organizations: unconscious bias in recruitment

28 April 2020 - 4-5 p.m. (CEST)
Join ESCP Professor Diana Pérez-Arechaederra for an MBA Masterclass

Leaders need to have a vision on the macrolevel, and a strong soft-skill set at the microlevel. In organizations, you will need to take care of processes that will determine the leading position of your company. Have you ever wondered why some brilliant candidates might not be applying to join your organization? It might be due to unconscious bias.
