Giovanni Scarso Borioli is a full-time member of the faculty in London, specializing in strategy, innovation, and organizational transformation.
His research focuses on how companies formulate and execute strategy, with a particular interest in overcoming execution challenges and integrating strategic frameworks for effective decision-making. Giovanni is actively involved in qualitative research, employing Grounded Theory to analyze how CEOs and senior executives navigate strategic challenges in large multinational organizations.
Giovanni is also working at the cross section of Management and Computer science research, focusing on developing a machine-readable framework for Strategy formulation, aiming at enabling GenAI agents to effectively reason about Corporate and Business Strategy in a formally rigorous and explainable way, as well as adding deep layers of context-specificity.
At ESCP, he teaches courses on strategy and innovation, guiding students in applying cutting-edge methodologies to real-world business problems. He is also the Academic Director of a MIM specialization in Management Consulting Excellence (MCE).
Beyond academia, Giovanni has extensive experience as a strategic advisor to global corporations, particularly in enterprise software, industrial sectors, and consumer goods. He is also the co-founder of an Enterprise SaaS company and is leading the development of a professional association for strategy professionals, aiming to establish industry standards and certification programs.
