Sustainable purchasing: ESCP signs the National Procurement Council’s Charter | ESCP Business School

Furthering our commitment to sustainable purchasing practices, ESCP now joins the rank of signatories to the “Supplier Relations and Responsible Procurement Charter” and commits to the french “Sustainable purchasing” Label

ESCP signs the “Supplier Relations and Responsible Procurement charter” from the National Procurement Committee and commits to the french sustainable purchasing Label.

ESCP Business School is proud to announce that it has officially signed the “Charte Relations Fournisseurs et Achats Responsables” (Supplier Relations and Responsible Procurement Charter), an initiative led by the Médiateur des entreprises (French Business Mediation Authority) and the Conseil National des Achats (CNA) (National Purchasing Council). This milestone reflects ESCP’s strengthened commitment to embedding sustainability and responsibility at the heart of its procurement practices.

Launched by French public authorities and key professional bodies, the Charter promotes balanced, ethical, and sustainable relationships between organizations and their suppliers. It is structured around a set of principles such as fairness in commercial relationships, responsible sourcing, respect for suppliers’ interests, and the integration of environmental and social considerations into purchasing decisions. By signing it, ESCP joins a growing community of organizations in France committed to transforming procurement into a lever for sustainable development.

It is, however, among only three higher education institutions in France to have taken this step.

Building on this commitment, ESCP will now initiate the process to obtain the “label Relations Fournisseurs et Achats Responsables” (Responsible Supplier Relations and Procurement Label). This label, awarded by public authorities, is the highest recognition in France for organizations that demonstrate exemplary practices in responsible procurement. It requires a thorough external assessment of procurement processes, governance, and supplier engagement.

The signing was marked by the presence of Pierre Pelouzet, Médiateur des entreprises, and Bertrand Pouilloux, representing the CNA, alongside ESCP executive, purchasing and sustainability teams. The event highlighted ESCP’s intention to further align its operations with the principles of responsible procurement and to actively contribute to a more sustainable economic ecosystem.

Through this initiative, ESCP continues to integrate sustainability across all its activities—education, research, and operations—while reinforcing its role as a responsible institution committed to positive impact.

Responsible procurement is about making sure that our institutional commitments translate into everyday practices. Through this initiative, ESCP wants to build more sustainable and balanced relationships with its partners, while contributing to a broader transformation of economic practices.
