ESCP Business School Joins the European Chips Diversity Alliance to Drive Inclusion in the Chip Industry

ESCP Business School has partnered with 11 other organizations to launch the European Chips Diversity Alliance (ECDA), an initiative supported by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ programme. The goal of this new consortium is to foster Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in the European microelectronics industry, lowering barriers for underrepresented groups and strengthening Europe's electronics sector.

Backed by a €1.5 million grant over three years, ECDA aligns with the EU Chips Act to address workforce shortages and increase diversity in the semiconductor field. ESCP Business School, with its expertise in business education and research, will play a key role in shaping the alliance’s strategy.

Prof. Frank Jacob, Dean and Rector of ESCP Business School Berlin, expressed his pride in ESCP's involvement, highlighting the project's focus on innovation, collaboration, and building a more inclusive future for the industry. “I am confident that over the next three years, our collaborative efforts will yield transformative results. We will bridge the gaps between education and industry, attract missing talent, and create an inclusive environment where every individual has the opportunity to contribute to our collective success.”

The ECDA will push for DEI to become a central pillar of Europe's educational and industrial policies, and seek to boost innovation through multidisciplinary, learner-centered curricula on DEI for the microelectronics sector.

The 11-member consortium includes:

  • SEMI Europe (Germany)
  • Comenius University (Slovakia)
  • Comet Yxlon (Germany)
  • ESCP (Germany)
  • EudaOrg (Ireland)
  • IAL-FVG (Italy)
  • Learnovate (Ireland)
  • Merck (Germany)
  • MIDAS (Ireland)
  • PTVT (Netherlands)
  • X-FAB (France)

A report on the current state of DEI in the European microelectronics industry will be released later this year.
