ESCP ranks among the world’s top business schools for its teaching cases’ impact

ESCP was ranked in the top 50 in Case Centre’s Impact Index, among 452 qualifying schools. This is part of a larger commitment to excellence in pedagogical material that is exemplified by the launch of the Case Project @ ESCP.

ESCP Business School is proud to announce that we have secured 31st place in the prestigious Case Centre’s Impact Index 2024, moving up 3 places from last year. To be recognised in the top 50 schools out of 452 qualifying institutions speaks to the quality of our teaching material.

The Case Centre’s Impact Index, started in 2023, assesses the global reach and influence of an organisation’s teaching case writing. This index measures the theoretical rigour and the real-world relevance of the teaching cases written by faculty from leading business schools worldwide.

At ESCP, we take immense pride in our tradition of excellence in case writing, a testament to our commitment to practical, impactful education. This recognition, as well as the outstanding achievements of our colleagues who have received prestigious awards for their case work, highlights the dedication, innovation, and real-world expertise that our faculty bring to the classroom. Case writing not only sharpens our students' analytical and decision-making skills but also enriches the academic community and industry practice alike

The strength of ESCP’s case writing

ESCP is a clear force in case writing, with 59 total cases listed with the Case Centre and many prize winners among our faculty, including:

ESCP faculty have also been known to receive other awards and honours related to case writing. Among others, these include the inclusion in the Case Centre’s “Top 50 Bestselling Case Authors 2023/24,” or the recognition of being the author of a bestselling case by Harvard Business Publishing.

Professor Martin Kupp has also recently published “The Ultimate Guide to Case Teaching and Writing" with co-author Professor Urs Mueller and the support of The Case Centre, on case method teaching and writing.

Launching the Case Project (CaP) @ ESCP

Last year, the school took another step in its commitment to excellence in developing world-class pedagogical material by launching the Case Project (CaP) @ ESCP. The CaP is an institutional initiative that seeks to expand the number of case writers among our faculty by supporting the efforts of anyone interested in developing a teaching case.

The CaP’s mission is to ensure a more systematic output of world-class teaching cases, improving managerial education not just in classrooms but in other institutions worldwide. The CaP operationalises that mission by offering quality training in case teaching and writing, as well as financial and human support throughout the entire editorial process.

The launch of the CaP was followed by ESCP’s decision to join the CLADEA-BALAS Case Consortium (CBCC) to expand the reach of our pedagogical materials even further. Through this partnership, ESCP teaching cases will now be distributed globally through the world’s most popular managerial educational platforms, such as Harvard Business Publishing or the Case Centre.

As Prof. Reficco, CaP’s Editor, explained: “We are delighted to have joined the esteemed ranks of the CBCC case collection, known for its demanding quality vetting and a double-blind review process on par with that of leading academic journals. Joining forces with these outstanding educational institutions will create synergies that will extend our cases' reach.”
