Dr Alfonso Valero is a global real estate leader bridging corporate occupier strategy and urban scholarship. He serves as Regional EMEA & APAC Occupancy Planning Operations Leader at JLL, directing a team of 150+ professionals across a portfolio exceeding 500 million sq ft. Before joining JLL, he spent a decade in Greater China leading corporate real estate, design and construction for Porsche, LVMH (Sephora) and Microsoft, grounding his practice in market entry, workplace strategy and cross-cultural delivery at Fortune 500 scale.
A scholar-practitioner, Dr Valero holds a PhD in Architecture & Urban Planning from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, where his research on megacities, mixed-use development and urban regeneration was rooted in a Shanghai-based thesis. He also holds an Executive MBA from IESE Business School–CEIBS. He teaches Real Estate Consulting on ESCP Business School's Real Estate Masters. His recent peer-reviewed output spans sustainability-value decomposition in commercial real estate and municipal infrastructure financing (2026).
Dr Valero is MRICS-accredited, serves as a RICS Accreditation Assessor and sits on the RICS Spain board. He is active in ULI Spain's thought leadership, including co-authorship of the PCUD report on flexible, efficient urbanism in Spain.
Fluent in Spanish, English, Mandarin and Italian, he has operated across European and Asia-Pacific markets over a 20+ year career spanning corporate occupiers, professional services and academia. He sits at the intersection of institutional-grade real estate operations, data-driven urban planning and applied AI, turning doctoral rigour into commercially deployable platforms and board-ready strategy.
