Dr. Michael Abel is the Founder, CEO and CIO of GREYKITE, a European private equity real estate investment firm headquartered in London. He previously spent a decade at TPG, where he served as an Equity Partner, member of the European Executive Committee and member of the Real Estate Investment Committee.
Throughout his career, Michael has led investments across a broad range of real estate sectors and European markets, with particular expertise in investment strategy, platform building, value creation and institutional fund management. His experience spans the full investment lifecycle, from acquisitions and capital raising to portfolio management and exits.
Alongside his executive career, Michael serves as Affiliate Professor at ESCP Business School, where he teaches Private Equity Real Estate. His teaching combines institutional investment practice with academic perspectives, focusing on investment decision-making, portfolio construction, value creation and the strategic management of real estate platforms.
His current research focuses on the intersection of real estate economics, technology and investment strategy. His recent work includes research on the unintentional consequences of rent control policies and on the adoption of artificial intelligence and dynamic pricing technologies in real estate, examining how technological innovation is reshaping investment decision-making, pricing strategies and market efficiency.
Michael holds a PhD in Management Sciences and a Master's in Management from ESCP Business School. He brings together academic research and more than 20 years of institutional investment experience to bridge theory and practice in private equity real estate.
