YES to UN 2020 will take place at ESCP's London campus from 28th February to 1st March.

This three-day event is an opportunity for ESCP students to gather and prepare for the National Model United Nations 2020 competition in New York City.

Alongside ESCP's London, Madrid, Paris and Turin students, these three days will welcome guests from a fellow top-ranked business school, ESSEC.

YES to UN will feature an opening conference on 28th February with guest speaker Irina von Wiese, former Member of the European Parliament for the London regionsharing her personal experience with international political negotiation. The following two days will see UN simulation games, during which participants must reach an international agreement on a specific issue using United Nations rules and procedures.

Training for the simulation is mandatory as the rules of the UN are very complex. Each business school has been assigned a country which its delegation will represent at YES to UN 2020.

The National Model UN session in New York City will take place in March 2020. The ESCP teams have already been working hard on understanding the economic and geopolitical issues facing their assigned countries:

  • Norway (Call ON'U London Campus)
  • Philippines (Call ON'U Madrid Campus)
  • Spain (Call ON'U Paris Campus)

In New York, each team will be expected to participate in negotiations led by young UN officials acting as Chairs, beginning in hotel-based committee meetings and then moving to UN Headquarters. Delegations will be assessed on their capacity to conduct a deal negotiation, and serving the global interest without losing sight of the national interest of their represented country. To achieve this takes a combination of interpersonal and oratorical skills, as well as a good knowledge of geopolitics, international law and the functioning the UN bureaucracy.

To find out more about the New York experience, please take a look at the ESCP Model UN 2018 video, which won first place in the global media competition.
