Speaker: Gulmira Rzayeva, Visiting Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies
We are delighted to host a thought-provoking discussion on "The Southern Gas Corridor in the New Market Realities" with distinguished speaker Gulmira Rzayeva.
The Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) - an ambitious international project estimated at USD $45 billion and one of the most complex gas value chains ever developed in the world - aimed at improving the security and diversity of the EU’s energy supply by bringing natural gas from the Caspian region to Europe and reducing Europe's dependency on Russian gas.
Attendees will hear the latest on:
- Can the Southern Gas Corridor Build New Markets?
- What are the political and economic challenges?
- The role of Turkmenistan
- Outlook of the trans-Caspian transport options
The event will take place at 6pm on Friday, 1st November at ESCP's London Campus.

About our Speaker
Gulmira Rzayeva is a Research Associate at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES), Expert/Advisor of the World Energy Council’s Global Gas Center based in Geneva, and Visiting Research Fellow at the Center on Global Energy Policy of Columbia University.
She is also a member of the board of directors of the Institute for Effective Governance and Stabilization based in Stockholm, Sweden and the Trade Forest company based in London. She is a founder and managing director of the London-based Eurasia Analytics Ltd consulting company.
She was a senior research fellow at the Center for Strategic Studies (SAM) under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan between 2009 and 2019. Her area of expertise includes energy security covering issues such as the energy policy of Azerbaijan and East Europe/Caspian region, Turkish domestic natural gas market, SEE gas market, global natural gas market, gas-to-hydrogen etc.
Ms Rzayeva is recognised worldwide for her reports and seminal articles about energy focusing on the region, as well as for her speeches in some of the most prestigious universities including Harvard University, ESCP, and many others. She has also presented her findings at leading conferences and think tanks around the world. Ms. Rzayeva's extensive research has been published by leading industry's websites such as The Oxford Institute for Energy Studies and many others.
