Nelson Camanho is Associate Professor of Finance at ESCP Business School, based at the London campus.
His research covers questions in international finance and financial intermediation, with a particular emphasis on banking, as well as household finance. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Review of Financial Studies, and presented at major international conferences. He regularly serves as a referee for top-tier finance and economics journals and conferences, and his research was recognized with the Nicosia Award in 2017 from the Association of Consumer Research.
At ESCP Business School, he teaches in the Master in Management programme, including courses on Corporate Finance, Quantitative Financial Risk Management, and Investment Instruments.
Nelson holds a PhD in Finance from the London School of Economics and an MSc in Economics from PUC-Rio, Brazil. Through a double diploma programme, he also earned an Ingénieur Généraliste degree from École Centrale de Lyon, France, and a degree in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering from PUC-Rio.
Before joining ESCP, Nelson was a Lecturer in Finance at Queen Mary University of London and an Assistant Professor of Finance at Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics. He was also a Visiting Scholar at MIT Sloan School of Management and the London School of Economics. In addition, he has gained professional experience at the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, Renault S.A., PSA Peugeot Citroën, and Petrobras.
