Frédérique Alexandre-Bailly is returning to ESCP after nine years serving the French State, first as Rector for the Burgundy region (2016–2019) and then as CEO of the French national office for career guidance (Onisep) (2019–2025).
She joined the faculty of ESCP Europe in 1998. She teaches Human Resources Management and Organisational Behaviour. From 2000 to June 2008, she was Dean of the Apprenticeship Programme. From 2006 to 2016, she was responsible for the school’s diversity initiatives, launching the Talent Spring programme. From 2008 to 2014, she served as Dean of Faculty, and from 2014 to 2016, as Vice Administrator in charge of teaching affairs and partnerships within the Excellence Initiative programme of heSam University (Hautes Études Sorbonne Université), the higher education cluster joined by ESCP.
She is a member of the board of the French Academy of Management (SFM), which she chaired from 2020 to 2024. She has been honoured as a Knight of the French Légion d’Honneur, an Officer of the French Order of Merit, a Knight of the Order of Agricultural Merit, and a Commander of the Order of Academic Palms.
Frédérique graduated in 1991 from HEC Paris (major in International Management) and holds a CEMS Master’s in European Management (ESADE, Barcelona, Spain) as well as a Master’s in Philosophy from the Sorbonne. She worked as a business consultant at Stratorg (Paris), completed her Research Master’s in History of Philosophy at Nanterre University in 1995, and earned her Doctorate in Management at HEC in 2001, with a dissertation on managing autonomy at work.
