As a result of its commitment to sustainability, ESCP reached fourth place in a ranking of European business schools for their SDG-related research.
Compiled by the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), the ranking of European business schools’ research papers related to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and published in the FT50 list of leading academic journals was made public by the Financial Times.
The ESCP faculty’s achievement is a result of Associate Dean for Research Pramuan Bunkanwanicha’s BEST strategy, which has seen research activities continuously include more sustainability: the number of publications on the matter surged to 22% in 2018, and their impact is now measured by their societal influence.
This highlights the fact that the school has understood that faculty members, students and potential employers are seeking greater emphasis on social purpose in academic research. But it also rewards ESCP’s efforts towards a more sustainable approach, made for several years on many of its fields of action: research, of course, but also teaching with more and more dedicated courses, processes and governance etc. “We are very proud of these results, which materialize the global sustainability transformation in which ESCP has been engaged for several years now. This ranking shows the commitment of our faculty on SDGs, which is at the cornerstone of other transformations in our curricula and processes,” comments the school’s Associate Dean for Sustainability, Aurélien Acquier, for whom ESCP, as a business school, has a key role to play through its educational innovations backed up by the ESCP-Deloitte Circular Economy chair.
