Speaker: Mateusz Ciasnocha, Farmer & CEO of European Carbon Farmers, Fellow, Regen Ag at Race to Zero, UNFCCC and ESCP Business School MSc in Energy Management Alumnus (Class of 2018).

Climate change and the increasing demands of a growing population are two of the biggest challenges facing humanity today. Agriculture - one of the most polluting industries in the world - accounts for one-quarter of global greenhouse emissions and is critical to both. This has put significant pressure on both Governments and farmers worldwide.

Regenerative agriculture – in particular, carbon – is a promising solution to tackle these issues, providing sustainable agricultural methods that bring environmental and economic benefits.

Third-generation farmer Mateusz Ciasnocha is CEO of European Carbon Farmers, which promotes carbon farming practices in Poland and developing agricultural carbon payment mechanisms. During this event he share how his family business is innovating in this sector and how can we kick start a Global Carbon Farming movement that works for farmers, society and our planet. Topics to be covered include:

  • What is regenerative agriculture?
  • How to transition from conventional and regenerative agriculture in a financially sustainable way from the farmer’s perspective
  • What is net zero is and what does it mean for farmers?
  • What are the advantages of carbon farming for the environment and how they reduce the carbon emissions?
  • What are the incentives for farmers?
  • What are the advantages of carbon farming from an economic perspective and how do agricultural carbon credit payments work?

About our Speaker
Mateusz Ciasnocha leads the operation of a 700ha regenerative agricultural business in northern Poland. He is on a mission to spearhead regenerative agriculture at the scale required to unleash the world’s greatest carbon capture and storage pool: healthy and living agricultural soil.

Mateusz is actively involved in international programmes such as the Economy of Francesco’s, the Agriculture and Justice Village (where he co-facilitates work of the start-up stream focused on developing network of regenerative demo farms), the EIT Food, where he manages a regenerative agriculture programme, and many others.

March 3, 6 pm to 8 pm London time!

Urban logistics activities are expected to grow by 8% a year in Europe through to 2030. Deliveries of goods already account for 20% of all traffic and for 30% of pollution in our cities, and flows are continuing to increase.

As our society comes to demand ever more immediacy, deliveries in urban areas present a major and increasingly complex challenge for logistics actors: while some consumers prefer more eco-friendly deliveries, others wish to support their local shops, deliveries in urban areas contribute to traffic jams, pollution and noise disturbance, and the COVID-19 pandemic has given a boost to online shopping.
Solutions to the economic and environmental challenges of urban logistics include investments in new technologies, such as artificial intelligence or blockchain, enhanced collaboration between the various actors in the ecosystem, private and public alike, and reflection on the organization of logistics facilities.

To address this topic, Professor Olivier Badot, Scientific Director of the Chair and Full Professor at ESCP and Elisabeth Denner, President of the Chair and Partner at BearingPoint will give the word to:

- Professor Joe Miemczyk, ESCP
Laura Morroll, BearingPoint
Richard Walters, BearingPoint
Tony Mannix, CEO, Clipper Logistics

When the estimated financial results are higher, a project is more attractive.

However, the investments are not equally risky:

•    Would you ask the same return for investing in Venezuela than in Germany?

•    For which type of business should you ask for a higher return: A company producing milk or producing cars?

In this webinar, we will introduce a fundamental concept in finance: the risk /return relationship, how to determine the appropriate required return to any given risk
