Dr Gladie LUI is an Associate Professor of Financial Accounting in Department of Financial Reporting and Auditing at ESCP Business School. Before joining ESCP Business School in December 2019, Dr LUI had many years of academic and professional experiences in Hong Kong, Canada and USA. During the early years of her professional life, Dr LUI worked as an accountant, a consultant and a trainer in various organizations. From these experiences, Dr LUI developed a diverse research and teaching interest. Most of her current research is centred on accounting information, market reaction, corporate efficiency and social capital using capital market-based and archival quantitative methodologies. In addition, Dr LUI is interested in research on taxation, ethics, education and behavioral accounting. Dr LUI’s papers appear in Contemporary Accounting Research, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Journal of Asia Pacific Business Review, and other accounting and finance education-related journals as well as many taxation journals. Professionally, Dr LUI has considerable experience in providing business and training consultancy services for clients such as Proctor and Gamble (Guangzhou), Hotel Information Systems Ltd. (US-based), Hang Seng Bank, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, and Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation. Dr LUI has been appointed to participate in several accounting, financial and governmental organizations. Currently, Dr LUI serves as a panel member of the Insurance Appeals Tribunal, the Resolution Compensation Tribunal, both are establishments by the Financial Services and Treasury Bureau, Hong Kong. Dr LUI was a member of the Financial Reporting Standards Committee of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and she served as a panel member of the Tax Board of Review (Inland Revenue Ordinance, Hong Kong). Dr LUI also served as a member of the Editorial Review Board for Issues in Accounting Education, an American Accounting Association journal.
