CYGNA is celebrating its 8th anniversary and we would like to honour this occasion by holding a full-day, face-to-face event (including an online option for attending the presentations only) at ESCP Business School's London Campus.

‘How to be the change we want to see in the world? Positionality, team roles and academic activism’

Presenters/Facilitators: Daniela Lup, Clarice Santos, Bianca Stumbitz
Date: Friday 13th May
Time: 11am - 4pm (lunch will be provided)
Venue: ESCP Business School London Campus

Organisers: Argyro Avgoustaki, Clarice Santos, Bianca Stumbitz

Researcher positionality is concerned with our world views and the position we adopt within research. It influences what we choose to research, and how we conduct our research. Much like the way contexts change over time, so do our positions and our situatedness within (our) research and also our teaching.

This is a complex reflexive process and the very searching for, and finding of, our positionality may be a challenging and perhaps transformative experience. But most of all, we can utilise academia as a forum for change through activism.

Clarice and Bianca will be using illustrative examples from their own reflective journeys to provoke thought and discussion about who we are as researchers or lecturers, and the extent to which we can achieve change in research, teaching and learning, work-place culture and practices, or even broader society.

Using the Belbin team roles, Daniela will discuss the various roles that we play in teams, whether they suit us or not, and to what extent we can act outside our ‘natural’ roles.

We are looking forward to seeing you on 13th May!

Please note: this event is open to members of the CYGNA network only
