Master of Science (MSc)
Sustainability Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Business as usual is over
Objectives of the programme
More than ever, the world needs business leaders who are committed to addressing social and environmental challenges with commercially viable and innovative solutions. The Master of Science in Sustainability Entrepreneurship and Innovation equips aspiring changemakers with the business acumen, entrepreneurial mindset, and sustainability expertise to drive meaningful impact.
Whether students aim to integrate sustainability into existing corporate strategies, launch their own purpose-driven ventures, or pioneer change within industries, this Master provides the knowledge, skills, and network to make it happen.
Based in Europe’s innovation hubs—Berlin and Paris—with an intensive study trip to Norway, this two-year programme blends cutting-edge sustainable business practices with hands-on entrepreneurial experience.
Over six dynamic terms, students gain a deep understanding of key business concepts, such as values-based innovation management and business modelling, while applying their learnings through a 1-year Sustainable Lifestyles project course, internships, and company consulting project.
ESCP Berlin’s Vision Of Sustainability
Sustainability is a Key Academic Area at ESCP Berlin. It entails various study programmes, research projects and ESCP Berlin’s activities in the pursuit of itself becoming a sustainable organisation. This Key Academic Area is devoted to finding answers to essential questions within the field of sustainability entrepreneurship and management. Selected experts from renowned companies and NGOs support the school as a Sustainability Advisory Board.
Master of Science (MSc) in Sustainability Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Practical idealism
Our students are pragmatic idealists who combine ambitious vision with practical action. While they come from diverse backgrounds in economics, or natural sciences, or engineering, they share a common goal: to create sustainability-driven solutions to global challenges, from climate change and ecosystem degradation to social inequality.
This full-time programme is taught entirely in English, but because major sustainability challenges transcend borders, students also study a second language of their choice. Cross-cultural perspectives are further enriched through discussions with ESCP’s international faculty, diverse student body, and frequent guest lecturers. In the vibrant capitals of Germany and France, students have various opportunities to engage with and learn from impactful sustainability initiatives.

Curriculum
A programme for your passion
Students master entrepreneurship through immersive learning: combining classroom theory, practical skills training, and real-world fieldwork—all focused on creating sustainable ventures that benefit society and the planet.
Courses are taught by full-time ESCP faculty and experienced industry practitioners. Throughout the programme, students will also have the opportunity to meet and network with successful entrepreneurs and sustainability professionals.
A two-year full-time programme
Your learning journey begins in September and is structured over 6 terms. Beyond the academic modules, you'll get continuous career development support and access to the Careers Centre team to prepare you for the next step in your professional journey.
Please note that students from a non-business/non-economics background are required to participate in a preparatory course, which usually takes place a week before the official start of the programme. This course includes the fields of Accounting, Marketing, Finance, Economics, and Controlling.

You’ll also start a unique 1-year journey with the Sustainable Lifestyles Venture (co-developed with the UN Environment Programme). In this hands-on project course, you’ll apply design thinking and customer development methods to create market-ready sustainable business ideas. The visit consists of company visits, case studies, guest speakers, and group activities.
On campus, you’ll prepare to critically evaluate research and conduct your own scientific work, while learning about the multifaceted aspects of driving significant societal change. You’ll also take 3 electives of your choice.
A key element of this programme takes place this term — the Company Consultancy Project (CCP). This project challenges you to put into practice the concepts you’ve learned in class and gives you valuable experience employers are looking for.

As you develop expertise and contacts in your desired industry, a thesis can also serve as a launch pad for your career.
Term 6: May - Aug Do an internship, start a permanent job, or work on your own Business Development Project
Worldwide
You’ll finish your Master's journey with either an internship (or a full-time permanent position!) or a Business Development Project, all of which must be a minimum of three months.
The internship, which you can do anywhere in the world, is an excellent opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge, get more hands-on experience, and build professional connections, all aimed at jumpstarting your career. ESCP’s European Career Centre provides support as you look for the right internship opportunity.
Here are some examples of companies and organisations at which students have obtained internships:
Nike – Atlantic Food Labs – Active Giving – SAP – Brussels Beer Project – Siemens Mobility – C4 Ventures – Emma: the Sleep Company – Digital Career Institute
A unique feature of this programme is the possibility to do a Business Development Project (BDP) instead of an internship. The BDP allows you to work on your own business projects, for example writing a business plan, launching a marketing campaign, doing market research, applying for funding, and much more. Many MSEI students make use of the BDP to sharpen their entrepreneurial ideas and skills, with the aim of kicking off their venture after graduation.

Careers
Demand is up for values-based change agents and entrepreneurs: more companies than ever see sustainability as an essential part of their mission.
However, the new corporate commitment should be seen as the floor of our forecast, not the ceiling. Given the world’s many pressing concerns – climate change, aging populations, income inequality, and more – it’s hard to think of any industry or sector that could benefit more from talented and socially aware entrepreneurs.
Job titles of some of our graduates include: Sustainability Consultant - Partnerships & Social Innovation Manager - Venture Architect - Junior Corporate Development Manager - Entrepreneur in Residence - Managing Director - Project Manager - Venture Developer - Impact Manager - Packing Strategy Manager - Manager for Circular and Sustainable Products
