ESCP participated in the third international meeting of the #Susturism Erasmus+ project in Portugal and Spain
From May 27 to 31, 2024, the third International Meeting of the Erasmus + SUST Tourism Project was held in Viana do Castelo, Valença do Minho, and Vigo. This event aimed to complete the training of trainers from Angola and Cape Verde through a study trip showcasing sustainable tourism initiatives.
Prior to the trip, trainers from Cape Verde and Angola completed an online course specialising in sustainability, entrepreneurship, and tourism marketing. This training prepared university professors to educate students in sustainable tourism, promoting entrepreneurial initiatives in their countries. The training focused on environmental care, digitalization, social and cultural protection, diversity management, gender focus, and inclusion.
The study trip featured practical experiences with sustainable tourism. Highlights included an inaugural session at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, a visit to the Chocolate Hotel, a tour of the Gil Eanes Ship Museum, and a cruise on the Lima River. In Valença, participants visited the IPVC School of Business Sciences, the Valença Fortress, and the Town Hall, where the Mayor emphasized cross-border cooperation.
Participants also visited the Cíes Islands, learning about successful conservative tourism management. The trip concluded with a working session in Valença do Minho, discussing training results and planning for student training, which will commence in the coming months.
The SUST Tourism Project aims to disseminate project materials among current and future tourism professionals in Angola and Cape Verde, promoting sustainable tourism to revitalize their economies and socio-cultural development. For those interested in participating, please contact us.
