Valentin Held is Assistant Professor of Sustainability at ESCP’s Madrid Campus.

He conducts phenomenon-driven qualitative research exploring societal impact in the context of organizational philanthropy and impact investing. His current work focuses on impact measurement and management in European foundations and impact investing, as well as on community philanthropy in Spain. Moreover, he is initiating a new line of research on technical assistance in impact investing. He deploys different theoretical perspectives to shed light on these phenomena, including civic wealth creation, organizational governance and institutional theories.

Valentin was trained in Finance and obtained his doctoral degree in Management Science from ESADE Business School in 2025. He was a visiting scholar at Northeastern University in 2024.
