Dr. Marcus Schmalbach, currently serves as Chief Honorary Dean (2025–2027) of the Carbon Offset Association, headquartered in Hong Kong, where he works with international partners on the design and implementation of a next-generation Emissions Trading System (ETS). His work focuses on establishing robust regulatory governance, institutional market infrastructure and high-integrity validation and verification frameworks for global carbon markets.
Marcus is the CEO and Founder of RYSKEX Inc., a US-regulated parametric risk and insurance platform, and is based at the Lloyd’s Building in London, operating at the centre of the international insurance and reinsurance market. He specialises in infrastructure risk finance, parametric risk transfer and carbon credit-backed risk structures, advising insurers, financial institutions and regulators on the structuring, auditability and regulatory acceptance of complex risk and carbon frameworks.
He brings direct market, regulatory and institutional authority into the classroom, translating international standards into real-world validation, audit and decision-making practice across regulated financial and carbon markets.
