Janina Garbas is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at ESCP Business School.

Janina’s research and teaching focus on the intersection of consumer behaviour, marketing, and technology. Her work delves into consumer responses to marketing activities, with a particular emphasis on influencer and social media marketing, digital technologies, and digital business models. She also explores issues related to consumer vulnerability and well-being. Methodologically, she mainly uses quantitative-empirical approaches, employing laboratory and field experiments and analysing unstructured data (e.g., text analysis). Her research has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Psychology and Marketing, and Internet Research.

Janina was selected as a runner-up for the 2023 EMAC/Enginius Doctoral Dissertation Competition and the 2023 SERVSIG Best Dissertation Award. Additionally, she received the 2024 Robert Johnston Best Reviewer Award from the Journal of Service Management. Moreover, Janina and her co-authors were honoured with the 2024 SERVSIG Best Paper Award.

Beyond her research, Janina contributes to the academic community as an editorial board member of the Journal of Business Research and as an ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, the Journal of Service Research and the Journal of Service Management. Moreover, she is a trainee-reviewer at the Journal of Consumer Research.

She holds a PhD from the University of Passau and was a postdoctoral researcher at RWTH Aachen University.
