Minas N. Kastanakis is Professor of Marketing, Director of the London PhD Programme and the former Editor-in-Chief of the European Management Journal (2017-2022).
Professor Kastanakis is a world-renowned expert in luxury, status-seeking and conspicuous consumption – having authored several seminal, and highly-cited, papers in the field. His research interests over the years have expanded to include the self/personality; symbolic consumption, signalling and identity; cross-cultural consumer behaviour; happiness, pain & pleasure; consumer ethics; entrepreneurship & small/family business; AI and new technologies; emerging ways of consumption & new forms of money. He is a prolific author with his scientific output regularly published in leading academic journals and receiving multiple Best Conference Paper Awards.
He holds a PhD in Management from Bayes Business School, City St George's, University of London (formerly Cass Business School, City University), an MBA with Distinction from the University of London, a Law Degree (LLB) from the University of Athens, and is also a graduate of the Oxford Fintech Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
In addition to his academic profile, Minas is a trained and qualified Barrister. He has extensive managerial and consulting experience with large corporations such as L’Oréal or the Richemont Group of luxury companies; as well as companies, think tanks, and governmental organisations – in the UK, Europe, Russia and Asia – with a focus on paradigm shifts that disrupt (or give competitive edge to) legacy industries.
