We discussed how technology can be repurposed for sustainability.&nbsp;The civilisations and technologies we have built have unbalanced our ecosystems. This raises the question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is all this technology for? Are we using it for the best purposes?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Indeed, technology could be an excellent tool to achieve environmental sustainability. In this episode, Marcus talked about three main scenarios through which technology and environmental sustainability could converge.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The first scenario is called&nbsp;<em>scientific salvation<\/em>.<\/strong>&nbsp;It is based on the idea that science and innovation will bring us a solution. Through technologies like <a href=\"https:\/\/climeworks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">climeworks<\/a>, which capture CO2 from the atmosphere,&nbsp;we can solve the&nbsp;climate crisis. This scenario is comfortable and it does not disrupt our current models of production.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The second scenario is called&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>Under the Influence.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/em>It is based on the idea that technology can be used to convert individuals to sustainability goals. Through technologies like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.almond.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Almond<\/a>, calculating your carbon footprint, we can change the behaviour of people to solve the climate crisis. This scenario could impact individual freedom.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Th<strong>e third scenario is called&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>Ground Rules.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/em>It is based on the idea that technology can enable us to gain local knowledge for global goals from the ground up.
