With the current pandemic, sadly, all those places are closed but I have come to realise that there are still lots of things to do.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was born and raised in Paris, so I thought I knew of all the best things to see and do. Indeed, the <em>Basilique du Sacr\u00e9-Coeur<\/em> is open and there aren&#8217;t any tourists, so there will never be a better time to visit. On this famous wall, \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcI love you&#8217; is written in more than 250 languages. I discovered a unique and super affordable food market in the center of Paris that is really AMAZING: <em>le March\u00e9 des enfants rouge<\/em>. They have many choices of carry-out food: classic French dishes and pastries but also Mediterranean and Asian specialities. I would 100% recommend the sandwiches from the <em>Alain-miam-miam<\/em> stand, they are just delicious. (<em>Miam <\/em>is French for yum).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Street art in Oberkampf, Menilmontant and Belleville<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/Xi5OVSW9hL5JmLL0qtRalx6N_DULH-v6q41sf9gonyqJv2xDwToHxHixXvUH2JEQUxNMnpVvk28wrTNNjtvAK1Mes_ftgvxR5W3te8qwxnm8NcIODEc7MfNHcPqTxQ\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>&#8220;The Wall&#8221; in Oberkampf (right behind ESCP!)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Paris is an open-air museum with all of its beautiful monuments. I never realised, however, that it was also an open-air art gallery. Before the pandemic, I never thought to look for street art in Paris. With most inside cultural activities closed, I was forced to do some research and found three neighborhoods where you can find excellent works: Oberkampf, Belleville and M\u00e9nilmontant. My favorite is \u201cThe Wall\u201d on Oberkampf street, right behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/escp.eu\/blog-masters\/paris\/\" class=\"rank-math-link\">campus<\/a>, where every two to three weeks an artist is invited to create a new mural. Over the course of two days, you can watch the artist at work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I want to enjoy nature, I take a walk in the park of Belleville (20th district) where you will find lovely street art frescos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Visit the Galerie Perrotin \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 76 rue Turenne (3rd district)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Emmanuel Perrotin Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located in a mansion in the famous quarter of <em>le Marais<\/em>. Thanks to its small size, it has remained open. It organises more than 40 different contemporary art exhibitions each year, so you can always expect something different. The best thing is you can easily enjoy it as a walk-in since no reservation is needed and the entrance is free.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once in <em>le Marais<\/em> you can go shopping at the numerous thrift shops located in the area. I would also recommend eating at <em>L&#8217;As du Fallafel<\/em> located at 34 rue des Rosiers where you will enjoy the best falafels and shawarmas of Paris.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Admire the most beautiful Parisian facade at 29 avenue Rapp<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/T1A8n40g06I5Hz3Kl1xmB0RwDHJulNDsUEm0LducWShhANokPkiRkWi-KUYttll-7A8h2REb5qzip-lcJ3LInAL1Q6MiEKjdnnq_u6uglB-C6du80lg73PAuJOwGHg\" alt=\"\" width=\"701\" height=\"1050\"\/><figcaption><em>The art nouveau Lavirotte building<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Photo credit: Jean-Pierre Dalb\u00e9ra from Paris, France &#8211; Immeuble art nouveau de Jules Lavirotte \u00e0\u00a0 Paris, CC BY 2.0, https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/w\/index.php?curid=24669763<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paris is known for its Haussmann-style buildings but there are also other styles that will surprise you. There is one fa\u00e0\u00a7ade that is really worth seeing: the Lavirotte Building at 29 avenue Rapp by architect Jules Lavirotte, a fantastic example of the <em>art nouveau<\/em> style. You can spend hours looking at the various design details.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/CRxy3Zp4RcWN1TyCN2fBUH4U1VrhVcHx5q_iVDZ7czRTos8267IySN9eWaItCWCfU-fiEjeBkqgi8RUjGkuBIAzEUWIzrqv1eSa9tIPaL6g42x40jwkxMI_dZpWzkWiSxDTv3Vs\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Gregory Renard&#8217;s macaroon shop<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>After seeing the fa\u00e0\u00a7ade I recommend that you go buy a box of macaroons from the best <em>macaronier <\/em>(chef specialised in macaroons) of Paris: Gr\u00e9gory Renard at 120 rue Saint-Dominique (7th district). Afterwards, go for a stroll in the <em>Champ de Mars<\/em> and admire the Eiffel Tower. Actually, one of the best views of the Eiffel Tower is said to be at rue de l&#8217;Universit\u00e9 near the places mentioned above.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Take a virtual visit of the Versailles <\/strong><strong><em>ch\u00e0\u00a2teau <\/em><\/strong><strong>and the Louvre&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Visiting the Louvre and the Versailles <em>ch\u00e0\u00a2teau <\/em>are on everyone&#8217;s bucket list when in Paris. Unfortunately, both places are closed until further notice. However, both have created excellent virtual tours and while it is of course not the same as being there, they have a big advantage: no queues!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Walk across the many beautiful Parisian bridges&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/rl7YOwj-GY2HSambKI3p0AtuPYfjds6tOttcNLBmElU1X568z0q8Gdy11tdxKWkZVrmVC3fN0O2ZFYvkFOdZ-bjboHfkNxT4czkG5t-EVyaqipdB07HArg7r-2cOVg\" alt=\"\" width=\"968\" height=\"724\"\/><figcaption>The Alexandre III bridge<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:10px\">Photo credit Eric Pouhier &#8211; Own work, CC BY 2.5, <a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/w\/index.php?curid=446153\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/w\/index.php?curid=446153<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Paris has a river running through it, it has bridges everywhere &#8211; some are not only beautiful but they also offer amazing views of the city. My favourite one, without a doubt, is the <em>Pont Alexandre III<\/em>. It is the most grandiose bridge in the city as it is decorated with gold leaf-covered statues. It connects the <em>Invalides <\/em>and the <em>Palais Royal<\/em> (connecting the 7th and 8th districts) while offering a great view of the Eiffel Tower.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My second favourite is the <em>Pont de l&#8217;Archev\u00e0\u00aach\u00e9<\/em> (4th district) as it offers a great view on the Notre Dame Cathedral. Fun fact: it is also the narrowest bridge of the city.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I hope this list of things to do in Paris will inspire you to get out and explore &#8211; even during the pandemic!
