We asked two of our students about their most memorable networking opportunity thus far, and this is what they had to say:
Bikramjit Sengupta, MSc in Energy Management Class of 2024 says:
“One of the key takeaways from the study programme was my exposure to Asset Management. It was taught by Ypatios Moysiadis who works at Wattcrop, and his primary reference example throughout the course was Offshore Wind Farm projects. This has been my target industry since I wanted to leverage my offshore oil and gas experience to transition into offshore renewables. Today, I doing an internship in a company and in a role that does exactly this – Asset Management of offshore wind turbines. The sole reason I am able to anticipate the role requirements and the impact of my work is because of my interactions with the professor and the course itself. It’s rare to see such direct relatability between academics and industry.”
Marinela Marquez, MSc in Marketing & Creativity (MMK) Class of 2024 says:
“Interestingly, one of my best networking experiences was connecting with the programme ambassadors during my application to the MSc in Marketing & Creativity, as it opened many doors for me. Firstly, Erica and Luisa guided me through my application process and visa application. Then, I ended up becoming flatmates in London with two people from the previous cohort, and we have now become very good friends. They’ve made my ad justment to the programme and living abroad so much easier, and we’ve stayed in touch throughout my Paris term.
Erica currently works at SALT, a boutique consultancy that specialises in brand activations through food and beverages, and the company which gave my favourite Creative Seminar of the programme. I am genuinely impressed by the work that such a small team can do for such big clients, and it was through the strategy director’s (who is also an MMK alum) presentation that I got a good sense of their company culture. Fortunately, I’ve landed a role there for my work placement, and I believe that it’s through fostering early and good connections with MMK alumni that played a huge part in this.“
