Cultivating Sustainability Leaders in the Heart of Innovation
In the pulsating heart of Iveco Industrial Village in Turin, the ESCP Green Hackathon 2023 unfolded not just as an event but as a pivotal challenge confronting the urgent need for sustainable solutions in the realm of mobility. As we face the escalating environmental challenges threatening our planet, the hackathon emerged as a beacon of hope, an incubator of ideas, and a testament to ESCP’s commitment to educating leaders dedicated to sustainable practices.
The Challenge: Redefining the Future of Green Mobility
The challenge set for the 140 students of the BSc in International Management, the Master in Management and the MSc in Food and Beverage Management, divided into 20 teams, was deliberate and significant – to develop innovative solutions that promote sustainable mobility in an urban environment. As cities grapple with the escalating environmental impact of traditional transport, the need to revolutionise the way we approach mobility is more urgent than ever. Students were challenged to envision a future where mobility is not just a means of transport, but a catalyst for a healthier planet.
Supported by 19 mentors from 13 companies and guided by the Game Master Prof Alisa Sydow, the students competed to create innovative, sustainable ideas. The ESCP students had just six hours to brainstorm, develop, consolidate, define deliverables, submit the project and prepare pitches.
Nurturing Sustainable Mindsets
As we stand at the crossroads of environmental challenges, the ESCP Green Hackathon is emerging as a referent, illuminating the path to a future where mobility is sustainable, efficient and in harmony with our planet. The need to rethink urban mobility isn’t just about improving transport, it’s about securing the future of our world. The Hackathon serves as a crucible for cultivating sustainable minds, leaders who will shape a future where green mobility isn’t just an option, but a necessity.
Matteo Barale, Marco Liccardo, and Paolo Lobetti Bodoni, our keynote speakers, didn’t just share expertise; they nurtured sustainable mindsets. Their insights vividly depicted the intersection of technology, business, and sustainability.
Our esteemed jury, including Prof Francesca Pucciarelli, Prof Ramon Fisac Garcia, Matteo Oldani, and Matteo Barale, played a pivotal role in guiding the innovation journey. Their expertise and evaluation criteria set the stage for solutions in line with our sustainability education strategy.
