Hailing from Akranes, a small fishing town in Iceland with just 8,000 residents, Andri Freyr Eggertsson had always been curious about the world beyond his hometown. Inspired by his parents, both business leaders, Andri developed an early interest in management. He explains, ”They didn’t pressure me, but seeing them as CEOs sparked my curiosity about the field.” A recommendation from a family friend introduced him to the Bachelor in Management (BSc) at ESCP Business School, and the unique concept of studying across three countries sealed the deal.
Despite initial fears of living abroad for the first time, Andri embraced the challenge. ”I had all kinds of anxieties”about finding housing, making friends, and adjusting to university life” he recalls. Yet, his determination to explore new cultures and opportunities outweighed the uncertainties.

Life as an ESCP Management student: From Paris to Turin to Berlin
Andri’s experience in the Bachelor in Management (BSc) was a whirlwind of discovery, learning, and growth. Reflecting on his favourite moments, he says, ”Each campus had its charm. Turin stood out for its beauty and familiar size”I could get around the whole city in 20 minutes.” While Paris impressed with its structured courses, Berlin struck a balance between organisation and independence. Andri particularly enjoyed courses on digital transformation, especially the digital government elective in Berlin, which aligned with his growing interest in technology and data.
Navigating the language barriers was one of the more challenging aspects of Andri’s journey, particularly in France. However, the multicultural environment and opportunities to learn Italian and German enriched his experience. ”It’s not just about speaking another language; it helps you see the world differently” he notes. The friendships he forged and the cultural insights he gained during his time in the programme shaped him into a more confident and open-minded individual.
Exploring New Interests Through Extracurriculars
While academics formed the backbone of Andri’s time in the Bachelor in Management (BSc), extracurricular activities and personal projects played a pivotal role in broadening his horizons. Although COVID-19 disrupted some plans, Andri took every opportunity to explore his interests. ”I had hoped to join a football club, but restrictions made it impossible. Still, I found other ways to connect” he shares.
Andri also used his time in the programme to explore language learning and deepen his understanding of international cultures. He took courses in Italian and German, building a foundation he continues to develop today. ”Knowing other languages gives you a new perspective”it changes how you think and approach problems” he explains.
Additionally, internships and collaborative projects gave Andri hands-on exposure to real-world challenges. ”Working with peers from different backgrounds on case studies and group assignments taught me the value of teamwork and adaptability” he says. These experiences were instrumental in preparing him for his professional journey.

Looking Ahead: A Path Shaped by the Bachelor in Management
After completing the Bachelor in Management (BSc), Andri embarked on a career in IT, working in business intelligence and data analytics in Iceland. His internships during the programme played a pivotal role in guiding his professional path. ”I started with a local municipality, working with HR data, and then moved on to a larger IT company, building dashboards and reports. These experiences solidified my interest in digital solutions” he shares.

Though Andri is currently rooted in Iceland, his aspirations remain global. ”I want to explore more of Europe, perhaps for a Master’s or future job opportunities” he says, keeping his options open. The foundation laid by the Bachelor in Management (BSc) has given him the skills, confidence, and perspective to pursue new opportunities and adapt to diverse challenges.

For those considering the Bachelor in Management (BSc), Andri offers simple yet profound advice: ”Be open to new experiences.
