The European Way
A Rich History of European Excellence
At our school, we take great pride in upholding the values of academic excellence passed down from European university culture.
Across our programmes and academic research, we dive deep into management disciplines, crafting an unparalleled approach to tackling the major challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s world - one that is multicultural, interdisciplinary, and open-minded.
As a school founded by entrepreneurs 200 years ago, we place a strong emphasis on fostering creativity. We believe in nurturing curiosity, embracing boldness, and encouraging contributions from all disciplines to build a more equitable and sustainable world.
Join us on this exciting journey of learning and growth, where we honour the past while shaping the future.
Celebrating 50 Years
As we enter into the year 2023, ESCP Business School celebrates a milestone anniversary of 50 years of its European model. This model, which prioritises humanism and multiculturalism, has been a central pillar of the school's identity and continues to be unparalleled to this day.
The Birth of the European Model
Established in 1819 in Paris, ESCP is the world’s oldest business school and has a rich history that reflects its commitment to its European roots.
The year 1973 was a pivotal moment in ESCP's history as it saw the birth of its second half, EAP. EAP was the first educational institution to operate on several European campuses and paved the way for ESCP's multi-campus model.
Right from its inception, ESCP has embraced European multiculturalism with students from various nationalities coming together under one roof. Our core values are deeply rooted in humanism, and we strongly believe in a multidisciplinary approach to education, focusing on science and languages. Everything that modern education should offer. ESCP further cemented this commitment to the European way when it merged with EAP in 1999.
Building upon a European legacy
Today, ESCP has campuses in Berlin, London, Madrid, Paris, Turin, and Warsaw, and it remains the only business school offering Europeans and non-Europeans a comprehensive vision of Europe.
The school's unique model has been recognised in the latest Financial Times European Business Schools Ranking, placing it third among the top 95 business schools in Europe.
ESCP's commitment to its European values is reflected in its student body, where 35% are non-French European and 25% are non-European. All programmes are multi-campus, and to graduate, students must study on at least two or three campuses. The school's campuses and degrees are recognised in all its host countries, ensuring its reputation as a truly European institution.
2023: A Year of Celebration
Looking to the future, Léon Laulusa, ESCP's dean and executive president, says that the school is proud to continue to unite its campuses with pride for European excellence, open to the world and committed to progress. The school is not only a European institution but a global leader in business education, recognized for its multiculturalism and commitment to educating purpose-driven leaders who will impact the world.
In 2023, as ESCP celebrates 50 years of its European model, it looks forward to connecting past, present, and future generations of the ESCP community through a series of dedicated events and conferences.
